Delaware City Power Plant

Brothers and Sisters:

I would like to take the time to bring everyone up to date on issues which are having adverse effects for our Brothers and Sisters at the Delaware City Power Plant. On September 8, 2009, Valero notified the Union that they were shutting down the gasifier and all of its auxiliary equipment resulting in the loss of 50 of the 97 positions we have at the Delaware City location. The Union requested that the Company begin “Effects Bargaining” for these members. After a number of meetings we came to an agreement on Voluntary Severance Package, Involuntary Severance Package, Recall Rights, and numerous items that are designed to assist in finding employment within Valero or at other outside employers. Although we were able to reach an agreement, there are still many of our hard-working Brothers and Sisters who are losing their jobs between November 10, 2009 and November 23, 2009. I ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers and if you know of any other ways to help, please email or call the Union Hall.
