IBEW Local 1238

IBEW Local Union chartered through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers September 10, 1946. We make every effort to improve the well being of our members and their families while working diligently to assure that our members have dignity and respect in the workplace.

We represent employees of Delmarva Power, Conectiv, City of Dover Electric and The Duke Energy Power Plant facility located in Dover, DE.

We are part of the Third District of the IBEW which encompasses Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York State.

Local 1238, with 961 members, is one of the larger local unions affiliated with the Delaware State AFL-CIO. We believe by increasing our membership we can help provide better representation for all utility workers in our area.

Local 1238 is governed by 14 officers that serve a 3 year term (please see our officers section of the site). The election process is democratic and all members in good standing are afforded the opportunity to vote for the officers of their choice.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday and Thursday of every month open to all members to discuss union business.

Along with representing our members, we also find time to donate to our local charities and governmental interests. We believe that in unity there is power and we practice these values not only in our day to day business but in assisting to better our community.
